Thanks so much guys. I know there's all sorts of fantastic causes out there, and you're probably all supporting something locally, but I thought I'd add this into the pool!! :)

... 2 nights we spend sleeping outdoors promise to be cold - they recommend bringing a sleeping bag but I really don't want to carry one the whole trip so can I go without? I have yet to figure out if I need any new pills or vaccines to stay healthy. Most importantly, how am I going to avoid the scammers and touts that are supposed to be so prevalent around the tourist sights in Egypt? But I'm ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada roseyWe had a big day planned, as Chris could take the day off. We walked over to Caffe Artigiano for cafe americanos while reading papers and just talking about the week. It had such a "date feel" to it--very intimate. We went by the cruise ship terminal to see the ships that were in port. We had seen them entering the Burrard Inlet early in the a.m.--the HAL Zuiderdam, the Princess Sapphire, and the RCCL Serenade of the Seas. I had even made Chris listen to ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada lisajagmin... pleasant considering the rugged circumstances and uncomfortable bedding. I woke up several times during the night at even the slightest sounds. My paranoia when traveling with my camera is intense and I slept with the straps tied around my forearm so any attempt to grab my backpack and run would rip my arm out of the socket and wake me. The sound of scattering feet and people in a hurry to set up ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada dnunz... I am here. I'm here. HERE. I've arrived. I'm home. I stood outside in my sleeveless top and sweatpants and spent about five minutes breathing clouds into the air. It's a gorgeous day in Vancouver today and the cold isn't bothering me (here...it's only -6 here). It felt like Christmas. I'm excited just like I said I would be. Exhaustion coupled with finally being here (though I have one more flight to go) is making me feel ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada karsenault... a bit of catching up to do! My room at the hostel was hot! I am pretty sure I was on the side that gets the morning sun, so it heats up quickly. I ended up getting the top bunk, which doesn't overjoy me, so at least that gave me warning to email all of the others and request a bottom bunk! Excerpt from an email to Max.... 'It was pretty funny this morning - they let me check in early at 10am and just ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada vhenschke... the ceremony, there was a part in which everyone had to greet the people around him and wish them peace. The woman beside me greeted me, and then asked me where I am from. I was too embarrassed to say that I am from Israel, but I could not think of anything else so I said "Israel'. She did not hear me well, and asked "East Vancouver?", and since it was a nice excuse I replied "yes". We then left the ceremony before we were required to drink the ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ormeir1... younger son stood silently next to us marveling at this wondrous creature. The whale was a gift of the mysterious ocean. My biggest hope for these animals is that they are cared for in the small spaces that they occupy. There is hope in the educational purposes of this facility, to teach children of wondrous things and that their preservation is important. The aquarium was a delightful treat and we were enlightened from it. I love visiting a place and being educated by what you see.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada wanderlustt... overwhelmed by the Canadian cleanliness and effectiveness of the buses and stuff. I mean...if a bus was full...it WOULDN'T stop to pick up more people!! Man, I didn't know how to handle that. I was like...why are theren't people hanging out of windows here? Look at how much room there is left in that bus! Any sensible bus driver would be trying to pack as many people in there as possible! LOL. Later in the evening I made some coconut curry ...
