... We shall try again another day!<br> After checking out we headed into Nelson and had a good walk around, buying a fistful of books for over the next few days. Another stop at a supermarket to load up on a few essentials and we headed to Nelson beach. What a beautiful day, we couldn&#8217;t believe that at 12.30pm on a Saturday the beach had barely 20 on it!! What bliss! We had lunch and then I read while Em walked down to the sea and along the coastline. What a gorgeous afternoon we had.

An early rise today, I got the bust from 7am outside the hostel to the ferry, where we crossed the Cook Strait and through Malborough Sounds to arrive in Picton (a 3hr journey). ... until about 2:30. We stopped in the town of Bulls, where every shop/office/etc. has "bull" in it. Like the police station; the "Consta-bull." The cafe there had Tip Top Ice Cream, which is out of this world, but more importantly they gave out the biggest portions I've ever seen. ... den Mount Robert bezwangen. Der Aufstieg war Schweisstreibend, doch die Aussicht auf den Lake Rotora und den umliegenden Park war jeden Tropfen Wert. Die darauffolgende Nacht verbrachten wir in Blenheim. Weiter ging es der Ostkueste entlang nach Kaikoura. Die Fahrt dort hin wurde von vielen laengeren Stops verzoegert, da wir ca. 20 km vor Kaikoura eine der groessten Seal-colonies Neuseelands bestaunten.
