This could be special trip I think ... not least because travelling with my friend Gary McDarby will allow me to get much closer to people in the communities we visit than on any other trip ... How will it affect me? ... what lasting impression, if any, will I come home with from my trip? ...
My last trip to Africa had quite a profound affect on me ... it left me with a sense of despair about how we ...
... grocery (where they charge 28 cents for a bag) we got back on the bus. A couple of older new zealand ladies (which they have the nickname kiwis because of their national bird) got lost and we thought we were going to have to leave them behind but at the last couple mins our guide got a call and apparently they found another cosmos bus. Next stop the cliffs of moher!!
Galway, Western Ireland, Ireland gfunk576... our food, a guitar player and an accordion player set up some mics and started a little music session, so I went to the bar for a Smithwick’s to complete the setting. The music was also pretty fantastic. My personal favorite was the Mermaid Song, warning about the dangers of everyone’s favorite half-woman, half-fish creatures.
Finally, we all realized how tired we really were, so we made the 2-minute walk back to the hostel and are about to get some ...
Today we had our boat ride over to the Aran Islands. These islands consist of 3 different Islands, and we were going to the largest Island- Inishmore. It was about a 30 minute drive from Galway to catch the ferry. The town the ferry left from looked very run down, but luckily the ferry boat was pretty nice. The boat was full and it was about a 45 minute trip to the island.
Upon arrival to the island ...
... we decided to go to another part of town we heard about called Salt hill. Salt hill is right by the rocky coast and has a view of Connemara from the shores. We walked up and down the coastal walkway. There were a lot of people playing with their dogs and even one person swimming in the dreadfully cold waters! We had a ice cream cone and just relaxed by the sea. After Salt hill, we headed back to the hotel in prepped for the next day- Aran Islands!
Galway, Western Ireland, Ireland christine.roney... had a small set of steps you had to walk up to get into it. The main room is similar to a banquet room with big, thick wooden tables and thick wooden benches. The ceiling is very high and the walls are decorated with old photos and some medieval weapons. The dungeon was located just off the main banquet room. It was a really small crawl way. I went down just because I wanted to see what was down there while mom waited on top. It wasn ...

galway, Ireland lindsey-canada... we planned to bond more over beer that evening. We walked into town and chose to watch live music at King's Head. We met a few guys who were out celebrating who knows what, perhaps life in general. We sang and danced to the band (The Dangennes...I think?) who played covers of American music...I wish it wasn't so prevalent. Once again I outchugged an Irishman...both with beer of my choice, and Jameson and coke..his choice. Due to his lose, the guys ...
Galway, Ireland ktowers86... Barely more than Edmonton, in fact, with its postcards in greeting card shops.) 10,000 people in Killarney, and doubtless no jobs. Yet I feel betrayal, that I've come so far and can't go just that small step farther. What If? All you need is one job. I'm afraid of being tied down in Galway--I know I'll buy clothes as soon as I have a flat (and a job, hopefully). I won't be able to move as easily. Already I'm carrying an extra bag--albeit mostly fully ...
