12noon our driver kindly dropped us at our hostel with all our luggage, we trundled in and were told it was too early to go to our room but we were able to leave the cases and wander the 5minutes in to town to book ourselves on the Glow worm tour for later that afternoon, time for lunch before we go! I whiled away the evening with two Canadians (no idea of there names), who were very relieved that I wasn’t a crazy republican. ... and with all the overnight rain the surface was like porridge- I think I managed about 3k before jacking it in and freewheeling all the way back. Did the laundry instead, much happier at that. Next day the weather could not have been better, the sun was shining, there was not a cloud and I got upgraded to the flight which took in Mount Cook, NZs highest mountain. The flight was amazing and I am not sure that any of my photos can do justice to the scenery. I am glad to have been here ...

... snowy mountains and forest and kept stopping for photos. We paused in Manapouri to admire the lake surrounded by mountains. It was 4pm and the sky was dark from the rain which had now stopped, so we got some moody photos of the grey clouds and white mountains reflected in the lake. We watched a crazy dog leaping about in the icy water and then left for Te Anau. We again admired the pretty lake and mountains before cooking risotto for dinner.

One disadvantage though is my left ankle started to give on me on my last day, so will be calling off my next big treck in a couple of days. There is enough to do though to keep me entertained.
