    ... beaches of the west coast.
    After hours of driving through this devil rain we eventually came to the town of Franz Josef, which was famous for its nearby glacier. The rain had abated somewhat, so we decided to undertake the walk to this natural phenomenon.     ... like penguins, but weren't sure, then as we walked back, we saw a dead baby penguin on the beach, which confirmed it! Also, found 7 inch mussel shells in pink green and blue, and those huge mother of pearl New Zealand shells the size of grapefruit. Just wondering if allowed through customs. They are called Puau shells. Simply love this site. Am looking out for passing whales and dolphins, none as yet! A & K ...

    ... for 10 minutes before we set off once more.

    We reach the bottom once more, we take a side path off the track to the waters edge, again the water is clear, it is less inviting than what we have seen as there was some algae on the rocks. We didn't venture too far as knowing me, I would slip and fall over, so after a few minutes we return to the track.
