... amp; relatives of those who were not so fortunate & here, at the sight itself, felt the human impact almost viscerally. In the Memorial Centre the plans for the main memorial itself were on display & look as if they will be worthy of that which they remember.
At some point in NY someone at the hostel said that having spent some days in the city & after going to Ground Zero they ...
... As time passed, the view from my windscreen began to change. The image of a passage of possibilities and perfection was fading. In its place lay a curving carriage-way of cause and concern, unwinding before me like a serpent. Each road sign seemingly delivering it's directions with forked tongue. My extra-sensitive directional senses were telling me that something ...
New York City, New York, United States hollidayWhat do I think of Africa? I start writing this in Johannesburg Airport. The people I see here are are different looking than most that I've seen in the last few weeks. Mostly white people; hunters, missionaries, safari goers and lots of business men and women. Africa needs missionaries because the governments here cannot support the needs of their people here. I believe the missionaries of this century have progressed from the past and are out for the good of the people ...
New York City, New York, United States mschloot... it was free and the best part you don't have to pay to see the Statue of Liberty and the view of Lower Manhattan. I hope you can get a good view with the photos. Although the Ferry is free, everyone just takes the Ferry to the Island and then returns. I believe Straten Islanders are a bit like Lepers or Geelong supporters (LOL). On the return trip I met a the Australian childrens performing arts troupe, who are on a 3 week tour. They ...
New York City, New York, United States malteaser... Chinatown, Soho, Greenwich Village, Tribeca, NYU, Columbia University, Washington Square, oodles of fantastic architecture and various museums and shops, and so much more. If you have energy and time afterwards, you can catch a show in the evening. Day three: First, get up early if you want to tour the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You can buy tickets for both in Battery Park, but you must arrive before 8 am unless ...
New York City, New York, United States trepidexplorer... in then went in search of food. What we found was a deserted street, a crack addict, Chinese food and lady who sassed me. We were walking down the street, minding our own business when I saw some guy pimp walking up to a parked car and peered in the window. Knowing that no good could come from this, we turned around and went back to the Chinese take away joint we just passed. The Chinese take away had no seats, just a brightly lit area and a lady behind a perplex ...
Brooklyn, New York, United States shanemilli... day in New York City so we decided to spend it in SOHO, Chinatown and Little Italy. SOHO was our favorite part about NYC last year and we were excited to explore the surrounding areas. The day was perfect as we just walked all around, taking in the sights, smells and sounds of the city, all the while enjoying one another's company.

New York City, New York, United States engku.tatiss... where all the celebs live and where the Dakota building is located, the apartment where John Lennon lived and died. We hit Times Square in the evening and had dinner in a diner! You can walk round this city for hours just gawking up at the buidings. There's so much to see and everything feels familiar as you've seen it on TV and film so many times.
New York City, New York, United States jonandjenMy spring break 2007 (Mar 10th - March 17th)
I went to Italy with Sally from Penn State. Two of us visited several
cities in 7 days. Of course you know why I picked Italy... beside being
very jealous that many of my friends have been there while I haven't (despite
that I had an Italian boyfriend).
I'm very thankful that ...
