... ride there, the ride back was uneventful until we got to the station. On the stairs down, police officers were running down the stairs and from all over yelling at people to get out of the way. Then over the loud speakers, it was announced that the tube from Victoria was closed. According to the news, there was a suspicious vehicle by Buckingham Palace so the police had a controlled explosion so Victoria Station Underground was closed.
... br> We also had a look over Lord Nelsons Ship....a real man of war vessel ..guns every where.
The day out also included a harbour cruise.
That night we visited a country pub before going to the Cricketers for Dinner
Next Day after lunch Mike Led us Heathrow to drop off the hire car then catch our flight to Bangkok.
Overall we had 2 very good days. It was great to see Mike and Heather again.
Travelled to a campsite just outside Winchester yesterday.
The plan was to do the final section of the SDW today but just as we were about to set out, it started raining. We decided to sack that idea and have a cultural day in the Saxon capital of England, Winchester.
Walked into the city and visited lots of historic sites including the cathedral. There was a choral concert taking place as we wandered around, ...
... still felt energetic so decided to walk to the "other" pier, in Eastbourne. Walked down to the front and along the promenade to the pier to again walk through the arcades and carnies to the end. There were a number of long line fishermen at the end of the pier and we watched them haul up multiple fish on one line. The evening ended with hugs all around as Brian and Jan would be gone by the time we got rolling. A wonderful visit to ...
... but they
were out of Guinness so we went down the way. Since it is Sunday,
everywhere has roast and Yorkshire pudding. It was great. Then we
bought some warm sweaters, really we did, and came back home ,. Had
a great day and are a little nervous of our trip up to Stonehenge
tomorrow as we need to go back across Southampton, which is really
busy. But I am sure Brian will do fine. If not, wish us luck :)
Next stop, the Piddle Inn. Someone please stop the rain!!
