... making it to Walmart in the dark and by myself, by stopping at Walgreens on the way back and purchasing a slurpie :). It was less than $2 and freaking amazing. I went back to the hotel and chilled for a little bit. It's a very nice hotel, even if the pool is in the middle of the lobby and half the rooms hav balconies on the inside of the hotel facing the pool. A bit weird but oh well - time for bed. Peace out from Gillette, Wyoming ...

The Badlands were...bad. No seriously, they were great. The photos give you some idea. They stretch on for miles and the stillness and silence is profound. All you can hear is the sound of the wind blowing through the canyons and across the prairie. What really surprised me is how much Dani and Sarah loved getting out of the car, walking into the badlands and just sitting and contemplating. ... we didn't make it to 11k. Near the top we found a snow hill, pulled out the dune surfing skim board and were a little more successful using it to surf/sled in the snow. How appropriate, I had on board shorts, tshirt, and flip flops. But, frostbite started to set in so I had to put my boots on. ... see in 30 to 40 years.    Next day we took off for Yellowstone staying at fishing bridge. Saw 6 cow elk close up . than a herd of 60 or so in the distance. at least 300- 400 buffalo between Yellowstone and Jackson. Not one bear tho, in the past would see a least a couple bear.
