We had a leisurely start this morning and then headed out to McMinnville to have breakfast with friends Lou and Darle from our old Sears days. Nice breakfast and then a walk through the renovised downtown area of McMinnville. Very cute and "friendly" atmosphere. As we walked by the McMenamin Hotel we couldn't resist going in. We proceeded to the roof top bar and had an absolutely wonderful afternoon of reminiscing and discussing our worlds. Great day!

... institution of Portland is voodoo doughnuts. The guys at the bike hire place kindly informed us of a second store location in the east side which attracts less tourists and doesnt have a queue ( downtown store queue would be at least 100m long). So off we went. The additional walk meant the guilt of eating a huge doughnut which is probably equivalent to an adults average daily calorie intake, was much reduced. The options at this place are endless. There were ...

... reached the Turkey portion of this educational segment. I like history. I like ancient ruins. The idea of going to a place that was the center of three major historical empires was a huge draw. Years ago I had a friend show me pictures of his trip to Turkey and I've wanted to see it for my own eyes ever since. Plus they're not on the Euro, and I enjoy traveling to countries where my dollar is worth more than theirs.
