... it hard to talk without screaming. Sandy and I ended up losing the others after a couple of runs and we ended up doing a few more runs on our own, then decided to call it quits around 4. We took the shuttle back down the mountain and once out of our ski clothes, hit the hot tub to warm up. After dinner, we socialized for a bit in the common area and then headed to ...

Walt had a chance to mount the cab and take pix there before we left and the crew were generous with their time in conversation. Seems the D&G is believed to be the likely private successor to the State as owner and operator of the Cass Scenic RR... and that the D&G (which is commonly owned with ...

... derelict but is probably NOT beyond hope, as the Cass has thriving restoration/rebuilding shops. -- The D&G also supposedly hope to add some 4-6-0 Baldwins for use on much of the (hypothetically) restored-loop, though the grade and the switchbacks on the Cass between Durbin and Cass would probably rule out use of any much-heavier locomotives there.

As you can undoubtedly tell, ww thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all this and learning more than he knew before about a ...
