... where they were working picking crops. Many were picking peanuts. After hiking for about 3 hours we got to a Padeng Village where we would be spending the night. We slept in a bamboo lodge but ours was very nice. We got showered and relaxed for the evening. One of the village families made us dinner...again more yummy food! It was a beautiful night out with a full moon. It felt like fall back home. We slept in the bamboo huts under our mosquito netting to keep the bugs out. It got ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand ashleysblog... scientific skeptics! I liked something about it - the look of the big chart that decides the answer, and the way that you use chance decided by 16 marbles to do so (choosing your own questions, like, in my example, "How on earth can I reduce the length of my penis?").
I am open-minded and logical enough to entertain the possibility that something which has been trusted for 5,000 years by man might actually have some working principles. In fact if you look at time ...
... was so small. Next we found our way to a beautiful temple. We rode our bikes through the parking lot and to a small road behind it, spotting several young monks along the way (in Thailand, many young men spend a year in a wat as a monk and then return to normal life afterward). As we were just about to leave the temple grounds, we saw several young monks sitting at a bench. They called out to us, first saying hello and then one of them asked us to come sit with them. We looked at ...

... focus on your breathing. Whenever your mind eventually starts to wander and think, bring it back in by listening to your breathing and internally vocalize whatever is distracting you (ie. If you hear a bird and are listening to it, repeat bird, bird, bird).
This is pretty much what we did all day long. Crazy! We had lunch, our last meal of the day, around 11:30 and had the opportunity to talk with a different (and much younger) monk after eating. We didn't expect to ...
... funny experience as my butt went for quite a ride today. While riding the elephants, we bought bananas to feed to them along the way. Carsten and Kathryn's elephant came up behind ours and began looking for our bananas with its trunk which were right between me and Kari. But instead, the elephant found my butt and was trying to suck it up its trunk. Finally, the elephant found ...
Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand erincastillo... exorcism and after hers, the Queen insisted I come over and have her 'do me'.......what did she see???? She had me stare into her third eye (dot on her for head) while she held my hands and chanted over me then made circling motions over my head and told the evil to come out of me. I am thinking I am pretty good right now as I didn't feel much of a rush out so maybe I had less to come out than did the ones flinging about like ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand everywhere... was recommended by Lonely Planet. We are going to stop listening to Lonely Planet. I order egg noodle with beef and curry and Jessie ordered Thai Chicken Curry with Potato and Frog Legs..... The food was okay but watching Jessie discover the frog still had kidneys was better. I tried what I thought to be a leg, it had tiny tiny tiny bones. Afterwards we walked down to the night bazaar and almost escaped unscathed. We saw Jessie's crackhead companion from dinner the ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand savageharmony... the wall. Actually I enjoyed that because I learned many new things about elephants.
Next up was the orchid/butterfly farm. The butterfly part was a joke. The orchid part was really cool. It was amazing to see thousands of orchids being harvested for their flowers.
That night I had a drink at a bar, and made my way over to Mandalay disco. I had a few more drinks there, but it was pretty dead so I went back to the hotel.
... water's edge), being very sad that our fun day had ended, and with everything crossed that the days to come wouldn't be ruined by an ear infection...
Before we started the rafting I gave the tour guide my camera and asked him to take some pictures because he was part of the 'rescue team' on the banks, with ropes ready to throw to drowning rafters! Here are some of the ...
