The waves broke over where we were and just a little bit of my pants got wet but not to worry - this was fresh water and the pants dried nicely. It was hard to get my head around the notion that water and sand do not mean salt water. It would have been good to come at a time when I could have swum in the water and experienced that activity. ... of the back roads back to South Bend and drove through areas that were predominantly Amish farms. One of the cutest things I saw was a small buggy with 3 small children being pulled by an equally small horse. Miniature of what we had seen in town.
Back in town, we chatted with Madge and then enjoyed a lovely meal of roast stuffed boneless pork and vegetables followed by a piece of her delicious apple pie. More chatting before retiring to bed.

From Chicago we headed north on route 94 towards Michigan City where we turned onto the 20 to South Bend. Quite a lot of road works along the route from near Starved Rock.
