... Spruce, and the Western Hemlock predominating.
We caught the public bus out and back for $2 each each way. Met a few other Aussies on the bus as well. At first the bus driver didn't seem to appreciate tourists on his bus. He did thaw out after a while! Had to walk 1.5 miles to the national park from the bus stop but the walk did us no harm, especially as the path ran beside the forest. Passed our first beaver dam!

... see them. We counted about 12 humpback whales in total! We spent over an hour watching them dive and come back to the surface for air. It was amazing to see these animals in their natural habitat, thriving! We ended the day late by arriving back at the ship at 8.45pm. We are so knackered and ready for bed, not forgetting to save the hundreds of pictures we took today before sleeping ...

... musical. Both very good! Jo Ann Saw a couple of bald eagles coming into port. Mt. Roberts tramway was good. Nice views of the harbor and beyond. Would have liked to hike some.if we had more time. First helicopter ride ever to get to Mendenhall Glacier for dogsledding. Maya and I were lucky enough to sit up front. Awesome views of the mountains and glaciers. Stress from work and life in general along with the desire to travel took me on a short adventure to a beautiful place called Alaska. I bought a one way ferry ticket from Bellingham WA to Juneau AK with nothing but my backpack, my fishing pole, and a sense of adventure. ... sink, so I hand-washed clothes and hung them in the bathroom on the ample supply of hangers We also had a fan to speed drying. (It looks like we won't need the North Face souvenir clothespins for our noses after all) We found out the next day that fellow traveler Bob walked to the Laundromat (it was a 15 minute walk).
