Very small town (village) but quite gorgeous, we walked around a bit, wanting arvo tea, saw a cafe that said 'closed' but when we asked she invited us in, sat us down and gave of coffee, tea, choc cake and apple pie. ... in winter. When in American Vermont we have to say VerMONT, not like Melbourne where we say VERmont. Got to get the emphasis on the right syllable! Had lunch next to a visitor information centre, there was a stall manned by volunteers from American Legion Auxiliary. There were sandwiches, bagels, fruit, hot cider, etc, all by donation. ... at least part of the way. What we did not know was that there was a community walk in aid of Suicide Prevention and thousands of people were crammed on to the bridge ready for the start. Instead we crossed by car but did get a good look at the edifice as we drove over the river.

... a meditation bench from my Dad's house that we'd been carrying with us and needed to deliver to my brother's house in Vermont.  These were all safely hidden under a large blanket in the back, with two bottles of Roxyann wine (I almost forgot!!) from Oregon. Our route today was simply taking I-787 to Route 7 to Bennington, VT!  We actually could have driven home without the Garmin, but "Alice" had been keeping us on track ...

... restaurant seems to be what Irvine's crew designed and put in place however, the menu items have changed somewhat. It was interesting to note that the menu featured a section, title Robert Irvine's recipes.
