Mountain View - 2013 blog entry

The Mountain View lot is at a fairgrounds tucked back in a neighborhood. It's funny; I remember the somewhat sharp turn onto the street to get to the lot, but I don't recognize the lot at all. I think last season a good number of us missed it and/or jumped the curb when turning onto the road but thankfully this year I was ready for it.

I rode some great roads, including one I thought even better than the famous Tail of The Dragon and I visited the beautiful and sublime Blanchard Springs Caverns. Over the River and Through the Woods (Really!)

... concert in the auditorium at 1:15 pm so we walked over and joined a large crowd for an hour long concert played on various types of dulcimers. It was excellent. We also discovered that they have live music in the town square every Saturday night and people from all over join in the jam session. Folk music is alive and well in this area and most people participate in some way. We could have stayed a week and not seen everything.

... and as I laid sweating in our bed last night. Steve gave me some tips on how to handle it though: when you get to the top of the hill, slow down 20 mph, switch into 2nd gear and if you need to brake, just pump the brake sparingly. I followed his directions to a T and they worked perfectly! The downgrade was so much easier than I anticipated.
