Tyler took Kylie, Kira, James and me on a little hike. First we had to get over a fallen tree, through the creek, through a gate until we were on the hiking trail. There we had some exercise and a great view over the ocean. However it was a bit overcast but still very warm. James was our guide and Kylie & Kira showed me how to do the exercises. At the Summerland Beach Café Jenny was waiting for us. We all had breakfast together at this cute and special little place. Later in ...

... a big deer. Well, we more or less turned around and went for brunch to Matteis Tavern in Los Olivos. It was my first time there, although I had been living in Los Olivos for 1 year. I fixed a pork tenderloin in a dough and Courtney made good ...

What a relief to leave Los Angeles - no offense to our friends and family living there, but it was probably the least relaxing place we have been on the trip so it was perfect that we followed it up with a stop at Carpinteria State Park, about two hours North and right on the coast. This would be the most expensive campsite we have had thus far, and would prove to be well worth it. When we pulled in, we cringed at the sight of so many tents and RVs packed into ...

... ceilings were beyond. After the tour was over, you could then explore the grounds. Another very hot day without much shade. We saw the Neptune pool, some of the gardens and I was way more impressed by the Roman pool, where you went to take the bus back down - the gold and blue tile work, the reflection of the tiled walls in the calm pool - it was lovely. We spent an hour on the tour, and about an hour wandering the grounds. Back down to the main ...
