We had the honour of being invited to the Royal St. George's College 50th anniversary bash by my former boss Steve, then combined a Toronto furniture run with a Go Freddie Go concert at the old Chick n Deli so we are still in touch with the Toronto crowd. The spring has also provided lots of opportunities to reconnect with our old Ridley pals.
We even managed to squeeze in one more consulting job to top up the travel fund ...
... the distance to Cape Cod to be too great for a single drive, and keen to visit both Newport and Boston, we broke the journey with a three day stop in rural Massachusetts, which allowed us to get to the two cities. We enjoyed both, and they provide a significant contrast. The Cliff Walk in Newport is an enjoyable few miles' ramble along the shore, with views of many of the famous Newport mansions.
... similar to Waiheke Island in many respects, aside from its lack of wineries. The Cape is populated only by a relative few hardcore locals in the off season, with most establishments either closed or operating reduced hours. In addition, it has a lot of unique houses (largely appearing to be second homes to rich Bostonians), from beachfront and clifftop mansions with expansive views all the way through to ramshackle cabins in the woods.

Having had quite enough of winter, yak tracs, frozen garage doors, ice dams, single lane roads and sub freezing tempertures we decided to leave a day early and get outta town and head to warmer climes.
