We arrived at Brindisi at around 8.30 after a bit if a hot night on the boat. The ferry was OK but the AC in the cabin was poor, though a man said it could have been changed; maybe.... The cabin itself was good and the crossing smooth but it was bit a short hot night. Getting off the boat was also slow, not helped but unbelievably stupid lot who managed to have an accident on the boat deck due to impatience.... ...

    What I learnt today...
To get a decent cup of coffee in Italy I need to ask for a 'café macchiato'. This is an espresso coffee with a little milk. Hotel dei Bizantini was also a holiday resort for families, as the grounds linked into the dunes and beaches of the Golfo di Taranto. However, the grounds and buildings, while in ...

... from the tourist information centre....

Gallopili was an island fortress, with only a bridge link to the mainland. The castle was currently not open. However, we enjoyed walking around the walls, hanging onto hat and sunglasses so as not to have them blown away, retreating to the narrow streets when we needed a breather.
