    We were a little sad to leave our place in Lamberhurst. It was an interesting place to be in, the people were very kind and we had some lovely times there. We decided to have a Ch day - beginning with Chartwell and moving on to Chichester.

    ... The building was once owned by Henry VIII, during the 1500's. He gave the Chesil Rectory to his daughter, Queen Mary, or Mary Tudor. Her lavish wedding to King Phillip of Spain in Winchester Cathedral, nearly bankrupted the city and she gifted Cesil Rectory to the city of Winchester as part payment for the wedding.
