We hitched a ride outta Wrightwood with Dan, a fellow thru hiker who was meeting his wife in town for his birthday and a couple days of R&R. His wife gave us some of the best oranges we have had on trail as of yet. They dropped us off at the trailhead and we embarked to Mount Baden-Powell. The summit was so close to the trail we couldn't help ourselves. It was a good day of hiking and we made camp at Little Jimmy Campground, mile ...

In fact, we had to stop at a rest area 20 miles from Billings for him to have a little break. He got out of the car, walked straight to a picnic bench, laid on top of it and promptly fell ...

Warning: Long entry (but worth every damn word of it)

My friend Jose was living in Wrightwood as part of a small team building a zipline course. When I had visited him the prior weekend (see entry here), he had told me that Saturday was going to be a free friends and family day for people to see the course. Although I really wanted to get on the road, how often do you get to go on an awesome zipline course that your friend helped ...

Strait thru the Mojave

Driving westward through the Mojave Desert while listening to George Strait just felt right. After my power nap in the Grand Canyon visitor's lot I was feeling recharged, although still a little thin.

I stopped in at a couple of the small towns on this particular stretch of highway 40 - Williams, Seligman. I noticed the same thing at both of them: very friendly people. I stopped in Williams to get gas and a cup of ice to keep the ...
