        ... some of the history. We did notice that a good many houses were currently for sale and that the prices were much, much lower than we would have expected. You could pick up a 150-200 year old house for around $250,000. Our guides did say that they were rather expensive to maintain and that there were very tight restrictions on what could be done to the homes. This is done to preserve the historic look of the area.

        ... her daughter’s friend, both finishing up their freshman year in high school. Shawn is from a city in North Carolina about 90 minutes from here. Shawn and her husband leave their trailer here all summer so they have a weekend getaway only 90 minutes away.

        We then went to a picnic area and had a snack and wondered to the beach to see how the waves were doing with the approaching TS Ana. Driving back thru the island to get home we stopped at a small Seafood store and bought some fresh grouper and shrimp for dinner. Luckily they fillet the fish and dehead the shrimp for you free.

        ... the name of Jim's boat we are hesitant to call. The occupants aboard wave to us as we pass but the boat's name is obscured by an inflatable dinghy hanging across the stern. The radio is silent so I call by the boat's approaching day mark. No answer. This must not be Jim although the boat fits the description Jim gave us. Further along the way we see another K-K, this one cream in color. Surely this must be Jim but silence as we approach and then pass. I ...

        ... through the bridge. Some mild panic resulted as the various boats scrambled to stay out of the way. Further along the southbound boats simply moved aside until the barge passed while others asked the tug captain what their move to avoid him should be. The captain's response was usually something along the line of "stay out from in front of me" and "just don't run into me," both of which seemed pretty obvious.
