    ... some of the history. We did notice that a good many houses were currently for sale and that the prices were much, much lower than we would have expected. You could pick up a 150-200 year old house for around $250,000. Our guides did say that they were rather expensive to maintain and that there were very tight restrictions on what could be done to the homes. This is done to preserve the historic look of the area.

    We left South Carolina in the rain with bikers coming in for their BikeFest (hope it dries up for them). We are having to travel up US 17 since we are heading to the Outer Banks and it is slow going.     ... this while doing the routine morning service on the engine. The options are (reasonably) warm with almost certain rain and low winds, vs. cold and high winds directly on the nose.
