... we had to get there somewhat early to ensure we got a spot in the marina. We weren't staying right in Hvar bay, I suspect that comes with a huge cost and when we finally got over there later that night it was evident we would have been fighting against thousands of other boats of every size. Plus he's totally into dragons at the moment (he got Toothless!) & loved the make-do cake made from chocolate muffins with 5 candles! What a big change from 4 to 5 yrs is - really a big boy now. ... booked an awesome meal at a family run restaurant called Belin, out in the countryside in an old village at their family home. The patriarch, Frank, took us on a tour of his village, showed us interesting features and told us about his grandparents, his life here and in New Zealand and Croatian festivals. (one being The Sword Dance.) Belin is run by Frank, his son Frank and other son, Zeljko. We sailed to Hvar at 2:00 pm and ...

... in silence together, grieving the loss of Ixchel, I couldn't even begin to fathom the pain her family is in. I immediately wanted to go home and hug my parents, siblings, and loved ones. Tragic events like this really put in perspective just how short life really is and remind you not to take anything for granted. Sometimes it's easy to forget that I live an extremely blessed life with loving family and friends, and being able to travel the ...
