... organic products here. There is a huge movement in Dalmatia to promote local produce and products and they are very proud to proclaim that most of them are organic. Because Croatia is now a part of the European Union, the EU is trying to get the country to import cheap European goods, which could potentially put a lot of local farmers, wine makers, and artisans out of business. Croatia is also being pushed towards adopting the Euro; however, the Kuna grounds the identity of ...

... with free shots of a honey flavored spirit that is supposed to help sore throats. We all sat around drinking ciders for a short while before heading downstairs to the small dining room for lunch. We were served a 3 course meal of beef noodle soup and bread (hard to eat in the rocking boat living room), chicken drumsticks with potatoes and salad, and a chocolate cake drizzled with chocolate sauce. I just love early departures. Don't you? We had to get up during the 4 o'clock hour to catch a very very early boat to the island of Hvar. It didn't help that we awoke to pouring rain and overcast skies. Unfortunately this boat had seats like on an airplane with little room and sadly no moveable arm rests. However, I was able to contort my body into a "c" shape / jelly bean shape and semi sleep through the ride to Hvar. I'm sure the Dramamine I took helped as well.

We really had to put them under a little bit of pressure as they said "we only have one bed available", I pushed with "we are happy to sleep anywhere, the hammock will do us!"...the cute little lady looked at us and thought for a moment....I knew if I pushed ...

We had a rainy start to our day in Split, Croatia. At first, it was just overcast but the skies opened up and we had a downpour that delayed our excursions for an hour. But slowly things cleared up and we left for a walking tour of the Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian. Split is the largest city on the Dalmation coast, second largest in all of Croatia.

Diocletian built a palace he could enjoy after retiring his position as Roman Emperor. Positioned right ...
