Wow! This hotel/bed and breakfast is outstanding. Home of a famous artist/sculptor, his artwork fills every part of this gorgeous hotel. Stunning ocean views from most rooms, exquisite furnishings, friendly helpful staff and manager and a beautiful breakfast room. My most enjoyable stay - ever.

Historical Traveler Reviews Second Home Peru Lima

      Artistic Treasure

We have just completed a two month trip in South America and ended our trip in Peru.

We used Second Home Peru as a staging place both at the beginning and end of the trip. Although you think you are dealing with Lima, you are actually dealing with Carlos in New York. He ensured that we were met at the airport by Mr Fermin. It is essential that you use this sevice since the hotel is located in Barranco and , believe or not, many cab drivers do not know that area.

We were met by the charming and eclectic Lilian Delfin. During our two stays, she was very hepful in restaurant selection, site visits and even in Taxi hailing. The taxi issue is not trivial- safety- and her help was appreciated. On our departure day, Lilian allowed us to use the room at no extra charge until we caught our taxi at 1900. Not many places would do that.

We stayed in in a seaside room that looked exactly like the website. The rooms were immaculate, modern and designed with a certain flare. The views of the ocean were spectacular.

The house itself is an old mansion with pieces of art on display everywhere ( and I do mean everywhere). Area is very quiet.

Breakfast was very basic but acceptable.

      Highly recommended

      A beautiful oasis

Stay here if you want to be surrounded by art and lulled by ocean breezes. The rooms have high ceilings, wood floors and comfortable beds. Lilian is an amazing person who takes care of her guests and she made our stay memorable. Stay away from the madness of Central Lima or Miraflores and relax at this oasis in Barranco.

The art of Victor Delfin infuses every part of Second Home Peru. His paintings, sculpture, lighting and furniture are integrated into every part of the guest house, but it doesn't feel like an art gallery, it feels like home. Lilian has the spirit and creativity that make it work.

It's cheap and easy to take a cab to any other area of Lima, but it's hard to leave this lovely, quiet neighborhood. There is a corner store a block away, an excellent cebicheria a couple blocks away and charming bars and restaurants. It's a perfect neighborhood for leisurely strolls.

Second Home Peru will arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport. Arriving in Lima can be quite chaotic, so it's wonderful to have someone waiting for you.

I can't recommend Second Home Peru more highly. Spend an extra day relaxing here. You won't regret it.

      Second Home, Peru

We stayed at Second Home Lima, Peru in Feb. 2006. Our room was wonderful, surrounded by original art and an amazing view over the Pacific. We enjoyed splendid sunsets and a glass of wine on the balcony. Lillian and her staff prepared great coffee and fresh rolls each morning. She was always willing to recommend restaurants and advise about travel. Fermin the taxi driver picked us up at the airport after midnight. Lima airport is amazingly busy late at night, so we appreciated this service. We feel happy recommending Second Home to anyone looking for an interesting and beautiful place to stay.

      Insider Tip

Second time in Second Home, this time with my entire family who absolutely adored this place. Praise cannot be high enough. Lilian is the perfect hostess and gives you support in everything. It is worth going to Lima just to see this place and I have never had a more luxurious B & B and it can compete with small luxury hotels as well.

Charming and Unique Guest House in Lima

I spent one night at Second Home Peru on my last trip to South America. This Guest House was just what I was looking for: A magnificent colonial house, in the heart of a private little estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean, near the historical center of Lima, and just by the Miraflores area.

I found Lilian, the owner very friendly and helpfull.

Her father, who also lives on the property, is an artist. You'll enjoy his paintings and sculptures all around the house.

The guest rooms are spacious and very elegant.

I was impressed by the view towards the ocean from my room!

A very positive and friendly energy..A place that I would recommend, and where I surely come back.

      Thank you Lilian!

      A gem

i really loved this place. it is calm, and gorgeous and everyone working there is wonderful. i stayed for 9 days and felt at home. "second home" really could not have a more suiting name.

      My secret in Barranco

In a way, I really hate to share this secret because word-of-mouth will soon make Second Home Peru so popular I might not be able to get my favorite room when I return, which I will certainly will do.

Barranco is an, off the path, residential community adjoining Miraflores, with a charming plaza, many restaurants, bistros and few turistas, at least off-season

SecondHomePeru is a lovely mansion, high on a palisade above the Pacific with a spectacular view. Not only is it an incredibly beautiful property but also is it also filled, inside and out, with the work of the famous Peruvian artist/sculptor, Victor Delfin. It is like having a room at MOMA, with a most gracious host (hostess), Lilian Delfin. I was very lucky to be there off-season, and was even more able to enjoy the hospitality.

I had booked a two-night revisit to a nice hostal in Miraflores for my return from Cusco, but they did not have the first of three nights I needed, so I reserved one night at Secondhome.

I was so thrilled with this place that I, not only, cancelled the previous reservation, but changed my return flight home to Puerto Rico and stayed another two days.

SHP is a fantastic value for about $75US per night, including a light breakfast, often with Lilian. She and her staff seem to find nothing too difficult, whether it is a pickup at the airport, or getting your personal laundry washed and folded.

      I give it SIX stars!

      Very Unique!

The most unique place we have ever stayed at! Beautifully decorated with the art of Victor Delfin and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Will stay there on our next trip to Lima.

... museum..pretty weird but it seems the Inka's and Peruvians believe in being very open about their relationships. We also ventured to the beach to see all the surfers who cover the coastline. There's an eery mist which covers most of the city in the morning and sometimes all day and at the beach it's seriously foggy so it doesn't really seem like the best place to surf but surfers from all over come here ...

I arrived in Lima from Mexico City late in the night to be greeted by a throng of crowds at the airport whilst looking for the car company that I'd researched online as being trusted to take me to my hotel. After circling the arrivals and departures area for nearly an hour I finally spotted the sign which was back by the international arrivals. Whoops! I'd obviously walked straight past it in the shock of seeing the masses of people. So ...
