Second Home Peru - My Hotel in Barranco, Lima

A travel blog entry by my.vagabond.way on Jun 14, 2014

That was the name of my hotel in Lima – Second Home Peru – and I was really happy to call it home for three nights. After being collected at Lima airport by Fernandez, the resident driver, I was whisked through a fairly uninspiring route along the coastline to this hotel in the
Barranco district. What a find! My love for statues and …

"Second Home" This is our hotel overlooking the Pacific. It is run by the son and daughter of the famous artist, Victor Delfin, who lives and works here too. His paintings and sculptures are all over the place and we feel a bit as tho we are staying in a museum. We have cocktails on the balcony of Boo and Carl's room as it is the very best room in …

... who were try to teach me but I was terrible at it, at one point I remember looking down onto the dance floor and nearly everyone in the whole club was watching us gringos trying to dance, people were pointing and laughing but I didn't care we were having a great time and it makes you feel almost famous when you have the attention of just about everyone in the club. We ended up having a really big night and didn't ...

Yes there was guinea pig and llama on the menu ,but none of us chose that!! *Earlier on in the tour we stopped in a shopping street where we could change ...

... anticuchos at a restaurant a lot of people had been raving about. Unfortunately, it's Sunday and they're closed on Sundays. Fortunately, there was a nice lady standing near by announcing a nearby food festival. About a block away was a collection of stalls of food vendors from the area preparing and selling all kinds of food, from anticuchos to picarones.

A few more miles of walking, enjoying the sun that finally ...

Wow! This hotel/bed and breakfast is outstanding. Home of a famous artist/sculptor, his artwork fills every part of this gorgeous hotel. Stunning ocean views from most rooms, exquisite furnishings, friendly helpful staff and manager and a beautiful breakfast room. My most enjoyable stay - ever.

Boo and Carl hit a home run with their room on a cliff overlooking the Pacific! Lorraine and Pete are happy in the cheap seats in the back.Aafter a day of sightseeing and holding our breath a careening through traffic, we go to the mercado and have an Argentine bottle of wine on the Hunt 's balcony watching the sun set over the Pacific

    Artistic Treasure

We have just completed a two month trip in South America and ended our trip in Peru.

    A beautiful oasis

Stay here if you want to be surrounded by art and lulled by ocean breezes. The rooms have high ceilings, wood floors and comfortable beds. Lilian is an amazing person who takes care of her guests and she made our stay memorable. Stay away from the madness of Central Lima or Miraflores and relax at this oasis in Barranco.

    Second Home, Peru

We stayed at Second Home Lima, Peru in Feb. 2006. Our room was wonderful, surrounded by original art and an amazing view over the Pacific. We enjoyed splendid sunsets and a glass of wine on the balcony. Lillian and her staff prepared great coffee and fresh rolls each morning. She was always willing to recommend restaurants and advise about travel. Fermin the taxi driver picked us up at the airport after midnight. Lima airport is amazingly busy late at night, so we appreciated this service. We feel happy recommending Second Home to anyone looking for an interesting and beautiful place to stay.

    Insider Tip

Second time in Second Home, this time with my entire family who absolutely adored this place. Praise cannot be high enough. Lilian is the perfect hostess and gives you support in everything. It is worth going to Lima just to see this place and I have never had a more luxurious B & B and it can compete with small luxury hotels as well.

Maison d'Hôtes de Charme à Lima, Pérou

J'ai découvert Second Home Peru par hasard... Il s'agit d'une superbe maison coloniale offrant une vue spectaculaire sur l'Océan Pacifique.

Charming and Unique Guest House in Lima

I spent one night at Second Home Peru on my last trip to South America. This Guest House was just what I was looking for: A magnificent colonial house, in the heart of a private little estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean, near the historical center of Lima, and just by the Miraflores area.

I found Lilian, the owner very friendly and helpfull.

Her father, who also lives on the property, is an artist. You'll enjoy his paintings and sculptures all around the house.

The guest rooms are spacious and very elegant.

I was impressed by the view towards the ocean from my room!

A very positive and friendly energy..A place that I would recommend, and where I surely come back.

    Thank you Lilian!

    A gem

i really loved this place. it is calm, and gorgeous and everyone working there is wonderful. i stayed for 9 days and felt at home. "second home" really could not have a more suiting name.

    My secret in Barranco

In a way, I really hate to share this secret because word-of-mouth will soon make Second Home Peru so popular I might not be able to get my favorite room when I return, which I will certainly will do.

    Very Unique!

The most unique place we have ever stayed at! Beautifully decorated with the art of Victor Delfin and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Will stay there on our next trip to Lima.
