... guide went out, and I was left with this man, whose native language was Quechua and not Spanish, and without having prepared the least for any questions to him. He told me to put my money amidst the coca leaves – that I had not heard of, but still slipped 20 soles on the table. Then I should breath on the leaves where after he gently threw them up in the air. This he did a couple of times, and after each time he interpreted how they had landed – on top of each other or ...
Cusco, Peru chrisser71Well today is my final day in Peru and I didn´t do a great deal today, a real administration day getting ready for Argentina. However, did have a pleasant evening meal with the Spanish nurses again although they were largely in a morose mood given that two thirds of them were going back to work in England.
I´ve been reflecting on my time in the country I will have spent longest in at the end of my two month blitz. Here are my random thoughts:

... the Inca Trail for maintenance reasons
When the traveler on his first visit to Cusco raises his eyes and looks up at the clean and fluffy sky his doubts disappear: To days great adventure is to follow in the footsteps of the ancient dwellers of the Inca Empire. Why invest up to four days trekking on ...
... mass, I head up to a coffee shop for the first real coffee in a long time...it is a funky bohemian kindof place that I have all to myself. So I order a cafe con letche and read one of the local magazines for about an hour. ... up mountainsides around steep curved roads. When we arrived at Mollepata we walked to a small homestead where we had our breakfast. Apart from Henry, who seemed like an enthusiastic and happy guide, at first it seemed we had a quiet group of hikers. There were the two German brothers, Bernd and Jan; two Argentinean girls, Mariel and Sara; 2 Brazilian girls, Daniela and Cristina; Belgian couple Bruno and Helen; and Brenda, Marcel and I. The ...
Cuzco, Peru sonnat25... have loved it! Today we were climbing pretty much the whole way from Aguas Calientes to Cuzco, but they seemed to run along easily. At one point we even had a switch back to make it over a pass, I guess. They stopped, switched, backed, switched again, and then we were on our way once more.
The following is a description of the trip from the Peru Rail web site. We traveled in the opposite direction as described here, but it would be a pretty trip in ...
