Hotel Alpenclub Engelberg

... due to high winds. So we headed into town for the morning and decided to visit the mountain after lunch.

We cruised around Lucerne for the morning, checking out the expensive Rolex watches, a few landmark squares and churches, went across some famous bridges...cant quite remember the names of them at the moment.

... in during the summer. We were actually a bit bored that day as there wasn't too much to see and we were getting quite tired of walking around. We had a nap and read our books and played Yatzee in the afternoon. Then we had dinner and then some snacks and wine out on our balcony before bed.
We headed into Zurich the next day. We didn't see too much of the business district but instead stuck to the old town. It was a nice city ...

... and off we went around the mountains... the roads in these country´s are crazy... we got to a small town and switched back to the train and we were off, from there we were in Lucern in about 45 minutes. We did reach the city in the day light which was a nice switch so we left the train station and started on our some what unknown journey to our Hostel...after walking for just a couple km's we found the hostel. We locked our bags in ...

Well we finally made it to Lucern after a few hours on the train...and we arrived with some daylight left!! YAY!! So we started walking with my lovely directions that I got from a previous hosteller that wrote them on the website...Leanne was out of her comfort zone cause she wasn't in charge and didn't know where we were going...it was great! Luckily for her I am good with directions and had everything under control! So we got to the hostel ...

... But better than that is how amazingly clear the water is, you can see the bottom, even in the really deep parts!

Then time for most of the tour group to jump on a lake cruise across to Staansed in the direction of the Alps – they are an amazing backdrop which makes the scenery in Norway look tiny by comparison as they are a whole other level higher. ... of the music that they played. Reflection of Lucerne: Lucerne was the prettiest of all of the cities that stayed in. The city surrounded the water and covered wooden bridge take you to either side. It was an expensive city but was very romantic. The swans created a fairy tale like atmosphere and the views of the hills were gorgeous. This was my favorite place on the trip and I would love to go back some day.

... it really really average. The cheese was a bit too strong tasting for our liking. We ate about half of it but it wasnt really that enjoyable. Now its about 2pm and all that really awaits us is more rain and dinner. Wednesday 18 September Today we decided to do some hiking. unfortunatly joey was a bit 'under the weather' after doing a nights drinking with some boys from here. He had a good night though, he took $50 drinking money with him and came back with $80 ...

... a car park. I should imagine that in winter it be a totally different outlook. We could see the Jungfrau, just a corner of it, high above us and covered in snow. We had a cuppa in a very brightly coloured hotel back in the town and decided to go with plan D which meant we did not stay overnight in a small town but seek accommodation in the big smoke...Interlaken. I drove around Interlaken until we found a car park and then went looking on foot for a hotel of which ...

And the trip continues... After a quiet flight from Cairo to Malta (apparently there are not many Egyptions looking to travel to Malta!) we began our European travels! MALTA- It was crazy for us at first to be back in a Western country again. No strange looks, no one trying to 'help' us find a hotel, restaurant, taxi, and it was amazing how clean the entire country was. Plus, (after always asking first) most ...

... minutes later as we arrive at the peak all these clouds rolled in. Just our luck hey!! Oh well it was still brilliant, and worth the trek up there. We left Lauterbrunnen on our last 'Busabout' trip to Lucerne. It's a gorgeous city sat on the banks of Lake Lucerne. Its unfortunate we didn't get to stay here longer but nothing can really top where we stayed in Lauterbrunnen. At the end of the day Lucerne is still a city so ...
