Chilling at the end of the world!

... before Ian marked his territory at the end of the world! ;-)

We then attempted to see Ushuaia's only glacier but entry was closed due to foul weather, not too phased as we know we will see better ones at our next stop. Instead we sit in the ski centre drinking tea and eating cake (ofcourse there is a photo of it for you) watching fantastic wipeouts of kids coming down icy slopes too fast!

The last stop is the local museum which we really ...

#15: Not quite the end of the world, but close

... and-potato main courses at a local restaurant that evening, I was in no doubt that he'd keep going until the bitter end of the continent. As it turned out we both did, arriving in the same physical state but via rather different means.

I'd view Ushuaia with a numb **** thanks to a bouncing rodeo-style minibus, jolting violently most of the way courtesy of the punishing dirt roads that link Tierra Del Fuego together. And so did he, atop his bike, although ...

Its the Fin del Mundo as we know it...

... 19 seconds, Nathan delightedly exclaimed that he´d found the Gentoos. Normally they´re found in the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic, so this was the only chance for us to see them. Yay, Penguinos! Of course, Nathan was as excited about the completely drab and unexciting Blackish Cinclodes that hung out on our catamaran for a while...something to do with it being unexpected and rare. Birders! The rest of our ...

From Bonito to Ushuaia

... and had no idea what to do - I had no money or phone and didn't know where I was. There were no cars going by and the ones that did didn't stop when I tried to flag them down. I just kept walking and a local guy with his son were walking towards me so I attempted to ask them for Pesos so I could get in another evil taxi and get home. They didn't understand but they figured out what had happened as I mimicked getting mugged and I was getting all teary.. so they kindly ...

The end of the world - Lighttower

... is "I thought it would be bigger :)" since the lighttower looks quite tall on pictures, but I would say it is maybe 10 meters high (maybe a little less) ... On the way back I decide to have a little snack and ask what they have to offer and get the shocking response:"We have fresh Linzer Torte" ... - after I ask her to spell it I still find it hard to believe ... So in the end I managed to go to the end of the world ...

Day 94 - Ushuaia

... the car while Gavin and Littles went to visit the glacier, at the glacier there is a chair lift that you can take up but they just walked it and said that it was easy enough. It is amazing the town is set up for tourists, we were there for two days and both days there were massive cruise ships, with their customers spending in the town. When they leave it is sooo quiet.

ANTARCTICA - The beginning!

... very basic, but the ship we have boarded has just been completely remodeled and refitted. I was dying for a nap, but the first thing on the boat schedule was the safety drill and the life-jacket fashion show. We put the damn thing on, and almost broke our necks while doing so. This is not a typical floating jacket they give you normally on boats, this was a heavy and *********g collar, that once in place it started without any further delays crashing all the ...

Getting to the end of the world

... his ties to Poland (his girlfriend spent 2 years in Warszawa working, and they both went to a Maximilian Kolbe school as kids). It really seems like the world is tiny. You fly to the end of the world, to meet a guy who went to a school named same as our church. Crazy. With that, we called it a day, but not before we tried a few more ATMs, all unsuccessfully of course :( The new day will bring us money, we were sure!

One of you bird experts will have to tell me what they are when I get the pics posted.

Back at Ushuaia we wandered the town looking, unsuccessfully I am sorry to say, for a Zippo for Brian's collection.
