... then decided to abandon that stopover. We headed out about 4:35 pm after discovering that Elizabeth was in need of a new rear tire. 40 km into the ride, the sky lit up with bolt and sheet lightening and we headed for the first gas station in Fenton, Louisiana which provided shelter during the subsequent downpour. The building shook with the thunder for 15-30 minutes. We were finally able to get back on the road by 6:03 ...

Our 1st main stop was not a True Blood location however but Nottoway Plantation, which we reached along the i10 listening to classic American road-trip songs which we had pre-downloaded on Spotify. This sheriff was about 65 or 70 years old, had a six shooter revolver and also quite a big amount of chewing tobacco. Before leaving the sheriff told everyone that he would see them on Sunday at church (which everyone says to everyone in the south). Tomorrow we have a short ...

Day 2 - Woodworth, LA

A travel blog entry by the3chickateers on Jun 07, 2013

After a light shower overnight (we stayed dry), today was absolutely perfect. We relaxed all day, doing our own little things. Sherry read her book on a float in the water, Debby laid on her lawn chair in the sun, and I went for a long walk exploring the campground. We had grilled pork chops (not squirrel) for dinner, with wild rice, and French cut green beans with sautéed onions and mushrooms. The bathhouse showers are nasty here (thank God for shower shoes) and tonight was ...
