Tic toc, tic toc... the count down begins.

Just about a short month left! Wow... I guess it's time to blog a little more actively. We've been busy planning the final days of our "pre-trip". The packing has started, we've bought most of our goodies ( I'm a gadget nut ) and the debaucherous going away party is scheduled. It's just a matter of time now until we're on a plane amazed at how quickly January went by. That's how it always goes. I purposefully avoid counting the final days but Andrea occasionally beams a big smile my way, bats...

Dear Blog,

The plane left Peru at 12:05AM heading back north, heading back to Canada. After an exausting day, I slept most of the 8 hours flight back to Toronto. Once in Toronto, we still had an 4 hours waiting period before taking another flight back to Ottawa, back to Home Sweet Home.

Patrick was there waiting for us at the airport at 3:30PM to bring us home. We had made it safely back from our journey, back from our adventure, back from Peru. Going down memory lane, I could n...

Transit Day from Singapore to Ottawa

Today was a transit day from Singapore to Ottawa. We woke up at 5:30am local time and did some last minute packing. Keith also woke up early and helped us call a cab to the airport. Thanks again to Keith and Teng Fang for being excellent hosts and our unofficial tour guides of Singapore. We especially appreciated all of the delicious food that you introduced to us.

After checking in at the airport in Singapore, we immediately hit the Star ...

Ottawa...a Great Place to Visit!

... growth. We saw all of the government buildings, which were constructed with a limestone façade. (I think…I’ll have to verify that with my façade experts at my office!) The architecture was amazing on these buildings. Located along the north side of the downtown area was the Rideau Canal, running between Kingston (Lake Ontario) and Ottawa. We learned that Kingston was ...

Home sweet home (the new one anyway)

... we were let in by another guest who had heard our knocking from his bedroom! Luckily, he happened to have the guesthouse manager's cell phone and called him up. We never got a real explanation as to why he wasn't around, but we finally got checked in to our room and dropped off our gear. This is when we got our next amazing piece of good news. Apparently the buses had decided that their work conditions weren't satisfactory so they felt like they would stop all ...

Day trip to the capital Ottawa

... Dan Brown, the author of the DaVinci Code. For lunch we went to an all you can eat buffet which had something to suit all our needs/wants. Ben and I left Sarah and Aunty Dorothy and went on a tour of the Parliament building. On the way there we went though a park and saw what we think were ground hogs and also some chipmunks, which totally made my day!! After tearing myself away from all the wildlife we continued up the the ...

Motorbiking home, getting stuck in Vermont

... let me follow him through town, and he put me back on track. I kept driving and soon found myself in Lake Placid, behind two ladies in ponytails, cruising down the main drag in their forest green convertible. This allowed me to take it easy and enjoy yet another quaint tourist town, with wooden signs and ski-chalet themed everything. There was not one thing on that street that I wouldn't call "rustic". I was once again inspired to buy something quaint. Maybe a wool sweater this time ...

Turning Blue

... my arms out of this torture. Ron wasted no time however. As soon as my arms were under the water he went in after the bolt and started quickly twisting it. He knew that I was in complete discomfort but he kept talking me through it. Even though he could have lifted his arms out at any time to take a break he never did. He never faltered. He just kept twisting that bolt. I felt like a wreck. I was quickly calculating if it may be worth it to lift my arms out and take advantage of ...

A very British day in Ottawa

... if you want alcohol in Ontario you have to go out of your way to get it and then its gonna cost ya! Ottawa has two chains selling alcohol. That's right 2; The Booze Store - which is the alcoholic equivalent to Argos but without the information on the product just a small picture of the label on a large board with overinflated prices underneath. It sells nothing else, only beer. Second to this there is LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) - says ...
