Moved from Ninilchik to Nikiski-Captain Cook S R A to get away from the crazies-locals and tourists all trying to get to the Kenai River to catch salmon any way the law will allow.Dip netting, flossing, snagging-dynamite is still illegal in Alaska.   The Swanson River and Bishop River in Captain Cook SRA were peaceful and full of trout the only draw back was there were reports of bear activity, so Sid found a buddy (campground host) with a shot gun. ...

... Lake, a free National Park campground with 4 sites at the dead end of a gravel road. One site was open, it had a wonderful lake, mountain view. It looked like a good lake to fish but 25 MPH winds and rain discourage me from trying to fish it.
Next morning we got an early start for Soldotna. It is the height of salmon season so campsites are at a premium. We decided we would park the RV at Fred Myers and then explore what camping was ...

It's been awhile since we've posted anything as we've been boon docking or without wifi. We have had many wonderful experiences. I'll briefly explain what we have been doing. We found a great campground at Matanuska Glacier. There was about a mile trail we could hike to view the glacier. It was a beautiful hike to view an amazing glacier. ... Fiff, and I all caught 2. Our guide prepared one of the fish on the boat and cooked it. A lonely bear smelled the delicious salmon cooking and came near our boat. We encountered another furry friend, a harbor seal, it was really playful and small. Our guide took us to an amazing waterfall where we took great family portraits.
