8/31 Arrive Kenai. took city tour of 1/2 hour. Walked over to the Russian Orthodox Church. Than we rode around and visited the museum and wildife center. We had a pizza dinner at the pavilion.

9/1 Today is the last day of our caravan tour. I biked down ...

Moose are not only elusive, they are so skittish! IF you happen to see one...and if you want to capture it...in pictures, you must be extremely quiet...and fast on the brakes and the trigger (camera trigger, of course)!


I thought the "Barely Legal" sign was just plain silliness until I researched how difficult it really is to determine if a moose is legal to shoot.

The hunters' mantra, "Any doubt, don't shoot."

... as it left its calling card while we were on the platform watching the fish. A HUGE berry-filled pile of scat was on the trail, and it was NOT on the trail on the walk to the platform.


Back at the ranch, it started pouring with gale force winds. Nevertheless, three bald eagles began dive bombing the beach for treats! Very exciting, but too quick to capture!

... Fiff, and I all caught 2. Our guide prepared one of the fish on the boat and cooked it. A lonely bear smelled the delicious salmon cooking and came near our boat. We encountered another furry friend, a harbor seal, it was really playful and small. Our guide took us to an amazing waterfall where we took great family portraits. ... of the product processed, frozen, and shipped to the Nedry Compound!! Because we didn't get much in the way of halibut, I bought some from the processor--it is Carol's favorite fish!! They had halibut 'cheeks' on sale--they are close to a delicacy . . . and look a little like scallops. So, I got two pounds of them.
