... On Thursday the All Blacks have a parade in Christchurch at midday so looks like we will not be spending some time around the town as planned. We have to fill in from 10 when we get thrown out of accommodation till at least 2 when we are due at the airport. Oh well lots of hours waiting again. But that is the day after tomorrow, today it sure looks like our helicopter flight will be cancelled at 4 with the weather problem. Oh well.

... Christchurch, I made my way further south and then headed back up to the Adventure Capital of the world: Queenstown. While I do no typically like tourist destinations, I had the most amazing time! From a full-day trip to Milford Sound (no words can describe its beauty) to luges, river surfing, bungy jumping, hiking the gorgeous trails, devouring a ginormous meal at Fergburger (a local legend)… I enjoyed every minute of it. And let me assure you, every minute ...

It was pretty funny when Dave came in next, sat on it, the wooden panel snapped and he crashed through onto the floor. It was still only early afternoon so we decided to take a walk to the foot of the glacier - the closest you can get without an organised tour. It was a two hour walk however we didnt account for the ...

... see where the path used to go. It's since been closed off and re-routed due to a rockfall.

Although the distance to the glacier viewing point is shorter, what they don't tell you about is the long, fairly steep climb you need to do over the last 400 metres or so to get there. It's made all the more difficult by a lot of "No Stopping" signs in that section. (I mean do you know how hard it is to take a photo while you're still moving over rocky terrain?) ...
