Today we ventured down to the Confederate campsite and then on to the SC monument. Trent had his pic taken there. As the first state to succeed the union, SC has a large granite monument paying tribute to her dead and states' rights.
We also learned that slaves were "leased" to the Confederate army for fighting.
At 3 p.m., Peg and Trent marched with "Armistead's Brigade" over a 3/4 mile in a re-enactment of ...
... in the kitchen, and the apartment comes fully furnished. I am also told there is a gym on the top floor of the complex.....hopefully we'll find a pool there too, or nearby, as during the summer, it gets HOT!!!
On average during the summer, temps are around 105. I wish I could say that was without humidity, like most of the Middle Eastern countries, but as Bahrain is an island, there is plenty of humidity to be found ...
... on a full plane. Blah! But kudos to British Airways for making it less painful by serving a hot dinner, unlimited alcohol and lots of video options. But still... middle seat! I was constantly shifting leg positions so that my leg wouldn't go numb. And I don't sleep well on planes. I can't wait to get out of this sardine can!
Flight from Seattle to IAD- Although it is a 5 hour flight but no food were offered. L But we were prepared. We brought Romanio's pizza , pineapple cake and orange for lunch! (see picture)
IAD airport- we had a 2 hour layover at IAD. We walked around the airport to get a little exercise. There were quite a few stairs between the terminals. ...
... exotic locations in this part of the world.
