Today we ventured down to the Confederate campsite and then on to the SC monument. Trent had his pic taken there. As the first state to succeed the union, SC has a large granite monument paying tribute to her dead and states' rights.

We also learned that slaves were "leased" to the Confederate army for fighting.

... delaying until about four and a half hours after the original departure time. Then they said they were ready to board and everyone must rush on board. Someone went through the area saying they needed to find the pilot. WTF! They took their time getting us on board as did the morons opening their luggage while we boarded. ... in the kitchen, and the apartment comes fully furnished. I am also told there is a gym on the top floor of the complex.....hopefully we'll find a pool there too, or nearby, as during the summer, it gets HOT!!!

On average during the summer, temps are around 105. I wish I could say that was without humidity, like most of the Middle Eastern countries, but as Bahrain is an island, there is plenty of humidity to be found ...

This journey has ended but not the memories. Rod and I will be putting together some thoughts on the trip in the next week or so and will publish them on this blog.
