... Amazingly, we managed to finish the ride 10 minutes before the cut off time and got our AUDAX cards signed as completed, avoiding the dreaded 'DNF' (Did Not Finish). Sure, everyone else finished well before us and most of them were twice my age, but completing the distance in the time given was a huge achievement for me and I was so happy to have done it! (And grateful for Erin's help!)

We have driven further into the state of Victoria and away from the coast into the bush and mountains. During the drive, we passed several areas that had been affected by the recent bush fires, the trees were all black but begining to regenerate.

... fight. We all ganged up on Renee which was fun. We than went back down the mountain. Still the visibility was ****, but you take the good with the bad & at least we can say that we had snow fall on us.


We got back to the cabin around 3:30ish & stoked up the fire to prepare for a night of NCIS & master chef watching. Kath & Nae went & returned our snow boots while I & Belinda chilled.

It was a great day, something none of us who will never forget.

In the morning we packed down the caravan and headed to the main street.We went to 'The Famous Beechworth Bakery'(as mum calls it) to have lunch.After a few minutes dad carried on and did a bit of drawings.Mum, Marc and I went to the Beechworth Honey shop.The three of us went on a tour at the shop.We also bought a jar of Grey Ironbark.At the end we wondered around the town and headed to a new place

BRIGHT (19/4 - 24/4/09) Travelled along the Murray Valley Highway then The Great Alpine Way. Had a very good trip and it was a beautiful warm, sunny day. The Caravan Park was adjacent to the Howett Park, which is located on the banks of the Ovens River. It is just beautiful, the river very low but bubbling along and the most magnificant trees in the most beautiful colours. Japanese Mapels, Claret Ash, Pittostorums, etc all the most vivid golds, reds ...

... up to The Horn which is a rocky peak (standing at 1723m - 500m shorter than Mt Kosciuszko) that offered 360 degree views of the Australian Alps and after a quick twelve minute walk it was breathtaking. Never before have we stood alone and witnessed a more spectacular view. If you are ever in Victoria you must visit Mt Buffalo and visit The Horn. Aber zum Glück war weder die Great Ocean Road noch die Great Alpine Road so lange, dass ich mich so richtig unwohl gefühlt habe.
