... gave us a direction for a street at one point that didn't even exist, we found this out through a local at the town we were lost in. He was nice enough to let us follow him to our next direction which was an interstate. Ryan was co pilot but had far too many ladies texting him ti keep up with what was going on :)
We got to Fredericksburg about 6:30pm only 30 Min's late but we were staying in a Motel Sunday evening anyway so there was no host ...
... on this trip!
We made it to the airport and on to the plane with no problems. On the leg to Houston we hit a nice little pocket of turbulence and I felt like I was back on that darn Rock-n-Roller Coaster at Universal Studios.
The second leg from Houston to Philadelphia was quite tiring. The poor mom in front of us was having trouble keeping her little ones occupied and I'll bet we circled the airport for a good 30 minutes.
The next morning we headed to Coffee Call...a local favorite for Cafe Au Lait and Beignets...one word for this one...YUM!
We arrived home to a dog that missed us very much and a husband/dad who enjoyed his time alone as well (I don't think he was too jealous...he doesn't like crowds or lines).
... for the disabled...the parking lot was torn up and we were way too close to the back exit door that the revelers liked to slam at 3am.
We ate dinner at Boudin's. The web reviews promised traditional Cajun fare and entertainment. We ate fried aligator and oysters. They were kind of pricey. The entertainment was pretty good. A small ...
... and a few things for myself. I also had a chance to love on Domino, one of the shop cats, which was extra nice since I really miss my own kitties!
I decided to avoid some of the tourist traffic and swung out to Harper before heading back to Fredericksburg. Once there, I sat out on the patio at Bejas Grill and had my first fish taco. Gotta say I loved it more than beef! Of course, this was a pretty fancy taco: grilled mahi-mahi, shredded red cabbage, fresh ...
... and a huge window that looks out over a beautiful field and woods. I took a great roundabout drive on farm and ranch roads to Marble Falls and Llano, enjoying lunch and a gallery visit along the way. The most memorable part of the day, though, was the amazingly beautiful sky! Windows down, perfectly tangled hair, left arm sunburned, blasting new music on the iPod: James McMurtry, The Derailers, The Lost Pines. I had ...
Fredericksburg, Texas, United States marijka... or storage space and also had what I referred to as a "one-butt" kitchen. The 1998 National "Seabreeze" is a 34 ft with 2 sliders and has a kitchen made for a family. While we will be traveling in greater comfort, we will have to trade fuel cost for that luxury. Wendell has done everything possible to increase the fuel efficiency of the Dodge and I will do ...
Spring Branch, Texas, United States dlpool... town with angle parking along the 5 or 6 central blocks of its main street. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants, some paying homage to the region's German heritage. We had lunch in a brew pub, stopped at the PeachHaus for some peach honey and a look at the orchards, and then drove towards Boerne, another German town in the area. Our main reason ...
Fredericksburg, Texas, United States moinmotionClose to the little town of Fredericksburg, there lies a wonderful park called Enchanted Rock. The park is named after a large pink, granite dome that stands 425 ft tall. The park has mostly trad routes but we found few really fun climb ...
Fredericksburg, Texas, United States westtsai2006... Angus. (Those are politically-corrected-up versions of what we used to call Black Angus). All the oil money has done a very nice thing, though. All over the high bluffs in West Texas they have installed large "Cattle Cooler Fans" to keep the cows cool. (See Picture) That is very nice of them but I can't figure out why they run them when the wind is blowing, and turn them off when it goes calm. Go figure! A truly great ...
