WRC in Murbah!! ( World Rally Chamionship)

... of himself, not only were we getting to stay, we did'nt have to pay!!

We got set up in a wee corner away from everyone else all was good!

The next morning James could **********tain himself, he was off talking to everyone, see what was getting set up, where the areas were where the rally cars were coming through. The next thing he was back with, passes to get in all the sections and a parking ...

Chilling in Byron Bay

... on the Oz Bus so far! On our first couple of days we enjoyed soaking up the sun on the beach.... heaven! We are starting to lose our tans so it was well needed! We also found an amazing little cafe where you can buy a huuuuge homemade muffin (they even had ferrero rocher flavour....mmm!) and coffee for $5, deal of the century! The nightlife in Byron Bay is pretty amazing too ...

... we walked to a cafe, ordered coffee, and waited to meet the mystery woman with whom we would be staying. Marlena came in the middle of a fierce game of Boggle, telling us that she also loved word games so right away we knew that we would get along. When we arrived at Gunnebah, we felt as if we were in paradise. We were shown our room which was very swank by our standards, and much to our relief didn't smell ...

... Nicks burger through as a rib eye steak so he ended up getting a steak for the price of a burger... result! We stayed there for some live music by Cockatoo Paul who simultaneously plays the guitar didgeridoo and sings! When his set finished we went into town and saw some more live music before heading back. The Art Factory was good for the free activities but it turned out to be full of boozy teenagers and there results of their revelry was there for all to see in the ...

... ex-Air Force girl, on the subject of weird jobs and dream jobs. There were half a dozen others that came through our room over my time there, but they were the ones I'll remember best. So today I woke up bright and early and headed for Byron Bay, the backpacker's destination spot (the other one being Surfers Paradise). Had no idea where I was going, because every bloody hostel, including the funky-sounding Arts Factory, where I really wanted to stay ...

Climbing Mount Warning

Not far from Nimbin is Mount Warning - part of a volcanic system along northern NSW and southern QLD. The peak gets the first sunlight of mainland Australia and has got fantastic views. Reason enough for us to climb all the way to te top through layers of different types of rain forest.

... and we (and the two other girls from the hostel) decided to make our way back down. From mountain climbing to mountain biking... we ventured out into the surrounding area on a couple of bikes hired from the hostel. Our scenic and somewhat lengthy ride took us rather conveniently into the historic town of Tumbulgum where it would have been rude on such a hot day to pass by the tavern without popping in for a cold one. Having hiked ...

The escape and Mount Warning

... wait 15 minutes for him to catch up. It was a pretty hard climb, but it wasn't so bad. There were numerous waterfalls we walked past and tons of birds and bush turkeys. Some of the trees were as thick as our car. Once we neared the top it was about a 75 degree grade rock climb to the top. I loved it, I've never really rock climbed before, but this was abuot the closest I've ever come. When we reached ...
