... pour. It did not stop until we got closer to ballymarkeery. It was a bit scary as there was a detour onto a road that was not really suitible for high volume of traffic and rough terrain. We did not really relax until we stopped for tea at the same house we attempted to go to on route to Dingle. Then we went home.

Last weekend we ventured to Killarney for a day trip. I can honestly say, when I envisioned Ireland, this was what I was picturing.

... to the ocean, and then herd us back into the cab so we could visit a castle, or another breathtaking view. One of my favorite stops was Muckross Manor, which looked like it had been torn from the pages of Pride and Prejudice, and effect that was heighten by the horses pulling carriages around the grounds for visitors. The former English manor was massive and we strolled the gardens quickly so we could see as much as possible.

... breeds one native to Ireland - the red deer which have been there since the end of the last Ice Age and Japanese deer. The later obviously not native to Ireland. The deer are so numerous now that they are becoming pests to farmers and a danger on the roads. We were lucky enough to see a young deer along the way. Further on around the lake which turns out to be a massive wind tunnel and freezing. The boats would definitely not be running ...
