... it had bathrooms for each bedroom and a dishwasher and washing machine as well! Also it was in a very picturesque and peaceful location looking out onto large sheep paddocks and mountains.

Oh actually before we went to our accommodation we went to the pub of course and had a most excellent and large meal. Mark and I tried whisky sauce (from Naomi and Tim’s plates) which was delicious!

... and rain soaked. The speed limit was 60mph and people were going far faster. John stuck to a nice 40 mph (it was still faster than I preferred).

Loch Ness is beautiful, even in the cold rain. We didn't see any monsters but Johnny did a good impression. Our road trip from London to Scotland was long. Getting to Edinburgh was exciting, we picked up Emma from the bus station and headed towards Fort William, in the Scottish Highlands.

5 August We said our goodbye's to James and Mary reasonably early, so that we could begin our drive up to Inverness. We returned our rental car to Inverness airport (yay - no scratches or dents!) and grabbed the bus to the city centre, where we had arranged to meet our next host Debbie. ... her grandson Charles is expected to stay for a few days. She bought it after her husband, the king, died and she had it renovated, including putting in electricity and plumbing in 1952. She is reported to have decorated it herself, buying secondhand furniture in a nearby town. The gardens were just beautiful.
