Sunday, August 31

Since it was Sunday we planned to attend church, then see another of Ted's projects and hit the road. We planned it out on the train ride home and had a few choices 9:00am, 10:30am and 1:30pm. Ted had not attached the new hitch riser to Sparky and it turned out to be more involved than he thought. He got straight to work on it in the morning planning to hit the 10:30 church time. ... We ended up in a quaint little town called New Buffalo, Michigan. It had a beautiful beach, a nice little pier and a park for kids to play at. Annalena was also ready for a stop because she had just slept 6 of the 7 hours we were in the car already. :)

I know we'd been to Amish Acres about 3 weeks ago, but only managed a couple of hours at that time. So I was delighted when Paul booked an overnight package.
Boy i was so hot and humid when we arrived yesterday afternoon, so it wasn't easy to lug our many bags up a flight of stairs to the floor above. I thought OMG it's not got air con, as the hallway had nothing, but whew relief when we got into our spacious room.

... we spent 4/5 days in Gardiner in a place with a kitchen. We wanted to be able to cook and not be in the car for a few days. It was a great refresher. One thing we didn't do was eat fast food (mcdonalds, Taco Bell, ect). Paul doesn't like it so it's never on the radar. We have been keeping track of our expenses again. I thought for sure we spent way more on this trip with everything we've done. We went to zoos, aquariums, water parks, shows, ...
