    ... to the reviews is a very quaint combination lodging accommodation and American restaurant, with a gift shop, mill shop and various other outlets on site. The hotel is classed as a "Boutique Hotel" but looks very Laura Ashley type in style and typically American homestead.     ... reason. And when we do find somewhere, they don't take Amex (our other US card)! Thankfully, I brought the Aussie credit cards with us as an emergency backup, and we were able to pay for our meal and sit down and relax for a bit. Another thing we notice in Santa Barbara, is that there are a lot of homeless people around - one notices us and quips "just another day in paradise". I keep the kids close to us.
