... in several places where I crossed the river to take R26 south to Sand Ridge State Forest a little south of Pekin. Surprised to find a pine forest and sand dunes in Illinois but this place has them both. The nicest primitive (no hookup) campsites that I have seen on the trip. Nice soft pine needle floor and well shaded sites.

... was held at Avanti's Italian Restaurant by the local State Farm agent which is again really nice for our budget. I hung out later at one of the cafes nearby with some of the riders and they convinced me to ride again tomorrow. It is another 40 mile day, tomorrow but I am going to be on a regular bike instead of the tandem.
