Vicino a Bastimentos nuotiamo in
una barriera corallina poco profonda e quindi perfetta per lo
snorkeling. Le serate a Bocas si trascorrono al Barco Hundido, sdraiati
in riva al mare sorseggiando coca-rum e guardando il cielo stellato. (info in www.panamasecreto.com)
Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro, Panama panamasecreto... us it was Colon and we were going to Bocas del Toro. We didn't realize Bocas was on Isla Colon. Duh, stupido Americanos. "Clan" picked us up at the airport and brought us into Bocas Town. We checked into our rooms and found they had left us a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon . Tonight the 4 of us will have dinner out on the dock in celebration of our honeymoon and Cindy's birthday.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE! Right now we are talking to a family from ...
Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro, Panama blakesAnd onto the notorious party town of Bocas Del Torro for my birthday. FYI - This is the first one in 7 years where i haven't had an exam around the day so yes, i deserve to cry myself a river and make these 4 days about me. A 2hr bus to Sixaloa, a 10 minute walk across the border, 1hr taxi to somewhere (Almirante - Ben) and a 45 min water taxi and we were in yet another Caribbean island...boooyyaaaaa.

After arriving in Bocas and doing our standard practice of ...
Bocas Town, Bocas del Toro, Panama rahulandben... City is known for their elite party scene (cover can be $30) and we were hoping to get as much of a glimpse of it as our backpacker clothes would allow. We pregamed and listened to music before making the trek to Calle Uruguay. We only had to briefly walk by one club, The Loft, before we were stopped by a guy and asked to come in. Turns out the guy was the owner of the club and it was his birthday. He really wanted it to be packed in there so he let us in for free ...
Bocas Town, Bocas del Toro, Panama lindseyj... in a cab that was an extended cab truck. I took a picture as I was in front. The students were from Taiwan and Germany studying Spanish at the University in San Jose. Two Costa Ricans who worked at the University were there escorts. Cab was thirty minutes at $4 a piece. We then took a water taxi which was a fast speed boat to Bocas Del Toro. This is a set of islands right off of Panama in the ...
Bocas Town, Bocas del Toro, Panama mikedolan... the glitter frog above my bedroom doorway, the small plastic watering can near the dining table, the large bowl of glass fruit, or the cow skull on the kitchen wall. The front of it has a covered balcony area and a bar area, apparently it used to be a restaurant. One day, Erin was hanging out there, reading in her hammock, when someone stopped to ask if we were Open. It's really dark, with not many windows, which supposedly means less sunlight and less heat, but also ...
Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro, Panama shetravels... where when I leave for the day she has been able to raise one hand and feebly wave goodbye. It was such a wonderful thing to see. In these first days I still felt like the gringa who had come in trying to do-good, but later on as our visits became a regular daily occurence, the boundary of the relationship between us and them broke down and felt more natural to the point where we could joke with them, tell them off (not seriously) and be ourselves, with our new old friends.
Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro, Panama shetravels... ferry docked. With no objection from the bemused locals we climbed over the railings and jumped off the side of it into the water that tasted worst than sewage. The boys gave it another go from a higher level but Silvia and I called it a day, and wandered back disatisfied with a bad taste in our mouths. The only other ventures outside this week was to the store to stock up on food and one rainy trip to the beach, dressed in black sacks, this season's hottest new look ...
Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro, Panama shetravels... that we'd be on TV in Shakira's home country. For what reason... talking about what subject... I`ll never know... AND, I was in a car accident. Fredrik, our Swede that we picked up, and I, taxied to the Albrook bus station to buy tickets for the overnight bus that would take us North that night. That went fine. But our taxi home was LOCO, with the driver hooning dangerously around the panaman streets, finally he cut across a lane and ...
Almirante, Bocas del Toro, Panama shetravels... followed the crowd that eventually led me to the immigration office. I was relieved that I didn´t have to pay the 26 USD departure tax when I left Costa Rica. I happily crossed an old metallic bridge that was once upon a time a railway track, over Sixaola river to Guabito in Panama. Going through the immigration at Guabito took a little while longer since it´s not everyday they meet someone from Singapore. I heaved a relief when the officer ...
