... 6.5%. That is damn steep and curvy even at 90 or 100kph. Peg tells me the mountains were beautiful around us. Usually I can drive and do some sightseeing along the way. Not today. I could only occasionally glance up and see the next mountain in front of me.

All packed and ready to go we were escorted to the airport by our friendly driver, Jan! Complete with bike, well packed by John, which made it to Canada very securely. We discovered we were on a domestic flight to Sydney, so had a long wait at Melbourne, then discovered our Vancouver flight was delayed 2&1/2 hours - so it was a long day before even getting on our flight to Canada. ... and day difference .... Also, the people here seemed to be more honest. We were extremely impressed and grateful that Bob left his cellphone on the taxi and was able to find it a few hours later. Don't think such things are likely to happen in the US.

- Compared to the big cities on the mainland China, such as BJ, Shanghai, the big cities here (Taipei, Kaoluong) seemed a lot older. And it did not feel the kind of booming economy like it did in China. But ...

After a 13 hour flight and losing one whole day of our life while in the air, arrived in Auckland at 5:40 am on January 13, about 40 minutes ahead of schedule, YAHOO!.
