... down into a very steep valley. I was glad when we reached the bottom.

We stopped at a little outdoor restaurant in Lee Vining, CA for lunch and decided how far we wanted to drive for the day. John is worn out with mountain driving, but he decided to drive the extra 2 hours up to Lake Tahoe. It was a nice drive through national forests and ranch land. We drove by Mono Lake, a large, shallow saline soda lake that has volcanic rocks rising above ...

... Sheryl Crow and Aerosmith recently played there. This is all happening in the small town of State Line (population: 840). While we were there the Eagles were performing at a small, (seats 4,000) outside venue at Harrah's in State Line. Tickets were sold out but we could hear them clearly right outside the gate and watched them on the large video screens (and saved $220).....nice night.

          ... a prime lakeside location!!
Having secured (as usual) an excellent deal!!! A much needed bottle of wine was delivered to our room.
Woke up to beautiful morning, on the lake, had a relaxing day, strolling along the hotel pier and shoreline.
Outstanding scenery clear turquoise lake water with snow topped mountains in backdrop and able to sun ourselves on the beach what more could you want.
          Another definite could live here!!!

... Springs. The building is new and it is a nice restaurant and bar. When you are just inside the door you are made to feel at home. The homemade blueberry cobbler with ice cream really hit the spot.

Austin and Eureka, NV, are fun little towns. Eureka is known as the friendliest town on the loneliest road in America. Getting to Ely was an interesting ride. Many would say it is a boring ride, to me the lonely ...

... surprising. Yang loved it so I'm glad once again.

While Tahoe has been great, the lack of snow has been disappointing and I'm really keen to get to Jackson Hole as it supposedly snowed 20 inches in the last 3 days there. I want powder.

This trip was my third time to Lake Tahoe but the first time in 7 years. Some things have changed but not a lot has also - I can see new buildings/shops here and there but I'm hoping there will be ...
