Last day in Cardiff so everything was packed away in our "dog box" hotel. Jo-Ann declared that we would pay a little extra for the next hotel so that we would get a kettle to make a cup of tea. The girls had misplaced another door swipe card, like in Bath. Later in the day Amy discovered both in the very bottom of her carry bag. We laughed that she was trying to collect souvenirs.
We decided to leave Chester in the hotel carpark and walk down to the Dr ...

... and also, having spent a few weeks trying to learn Spanish, I realised I needed a dictionary. Despite it being a normal working day the bus company had decided to run a 'Saturday service' about which I didn't know and I stood forlornly at the bus stop for over half an hour waiting for a bus that never came. Will the tree decorations be sparkly tarantulas? We will know very ...

Drove to Exeter, took Park and Ride bus to the city centre - so sensible. Another glorious sunny but chilly day. Everyone out busy Christmas shopping.

Looked at the beautiful cathedral, originally built in 1114 in Norman (Romanesque) style, then rebuilt in Decorated Gothic style between 1270 and 1350, with more beautifully carved Misericords, like in Limerick. The choir were rehearsing, an ...

... I am so grateful for Mike's incredible knowledge of history! The 90% chance of rain all day didn't materialize and we again were blessed with sunny skies for most of the day!

After dinner, Mike and Myles blasted through the last few chapters of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". We then gathered around the telly and watched the movie on a VHS tape found in the cottage (another historical experience for the kids!).
