... What, in essence, this coin represents is the continuation of the journey; a reminder that there are still many more miles to cover.
The last night in Appleby was a quiet family affair, Food, Wine and a movie from my childhood ('The Last Starfighter' - good choice Joanna!) and we are now just killing time until 2pm when it will be time to set off for Geordieland and my date with density ... er, I mean destiny ... ... I think!
Well after nine wonderful days on Mandrem beach with The Sea Paradise boys, we are fully rested. There really wasn't much to report back unless you wanted to hear about jumping on the motorbike and popping in and out of local villages and spending lazy days on the beach?!

... by the time we were ready to leave, the wind had picked up & the rain was coming down sideways. When we crossed the border we were all leaning the bikes at 45 degrees just to go in a straight line and trying to brace for the gale force gusts!
So by the time we reached Haywick the weather had deteriorated & group decision was made for safety reasons to not continue to Glasgow but instead ride down to Martyn's sisters house in Warcop, Westmorland.

... who had maps and they said no, the way you were going was right. After another five, I turned around and walked back as it was the wrong way. We headed down and encountered fields of peat bog. I kept sinking up to my ankles, and was slowly getting covered in mud !!! Not long after, the ground gave way, and I was in a bog hole, water up to my waist and I couldn't touch the bottom. Lucy was freaking as she couldn't get to me. I manage to pull myself out and realised I had ...
Horton in Ribblesdale, England, United Kingdom uncle_davros... s driving were what I remembered most about that little adventure. However it would be excess baggage or pack-muling it otherwise so the hire car it ended up being. And I'm so glad I did drive in the end. I'd never really been north of Oxford/Cambridge (or south of Edinburgh) before so the road trip opened up a new world for me that weekend - a ...
