Along Stowe's Bike Path

October 19, 2009

We drove to the ski town of Stowe and spent a sunny afternoon biking along the river, the path criss-crossing the river by way of ten bridges, bordering pastures and farms. The leaves are falling and the colors fading but it was still a pleasant ride ending at the Brookdale covered bridge.

Exploring Vermont

... who knew??) Then off to see an apple cider mill, and then to Ben & Jerry's factory for a tour and some ice cream. It just so happens that this weekend was a big festival in Stowe, the fall colors are in full swing, AND it's a 3 day weekend for most over here (Columbus Day), so we had 6000 of our closest friends with us most of the day. That evening we had a great meal and then back "home" to crash. By the way, this is a very nice ...

Finally Getting the first call

... advisor from Franklin Pierce. He owns his own CRM company and had been telling me that if he ever had any work he would be sure to call me. He finally did and told me that he needed me to be in Northern New Hampshire in about a week. It was only going to be an 8 day project. It was an emergency project for DOT because a big part of Route 16 in Dummer fell into the river and the road had to be closed.

... moved to the "Front Four" (Goat, Lift Line, National & Star) Sorry to say only Lift Line and National were open, but because it was so icey that was probably good. We spent most of the day working off the quad and repeating Lift Line (off Havchute) until later on in the day when it was so icey that I slid down the entire upper part of the run. We went to the medium terrain park where we took a few jumps, then we ...

The Day of Driving....Yuck

... check the girls adress using wi-fi and also to use the bathrooms. I've never seen a Welcome Center so nice and cozy. It was full-on log cabin style with rockin chairs in front of a fireplace in the corner. I was still wearing flips once we got here so the snow was already a shock...little did I know. Once back on the road, the empty gas warning light came on so we agreed to get gas at the next available exit and find a station via Margaret. Along the drive somewhere I called ...

Wedding Morning the girls

... silly "knickers" as Amie calls them. My mother and sister arrive. Mom is panicked - where is her dress? Home. It's okay, we pass by on the way and she can slip in it. There is nothing that will panic me today - except I really don't want to be late walking down the aisle... :)

This is a busy morning. First to collect Pamela (so happy she is coming with me to get my hair done) and then to Stoweflake for hair and make up. It's my wedding day! I can **********tain the excitement and nervousness. Weather - beautiful!

Day 3 - Killington to Jeffersonville

... it was time to stop drinking and chatting and it was time to walk round the shops. Such a fabulous place, friendly people, stunning buildings, but a complete lack of consumer electronics shops. Back to the car and a 27 mile trip thro' initially rather disappointingly green trees, but later scarlet, etc. and to the Smugglers Notch Inn where I had the best fried chicken I have ever tasted and $1 a pint Budweiser and finally to bed.

... ve been filleting the big pike for the fish fry on Friday night. I cant remember a time when Ive been catching Big bass this consistently. I caught a 61/2., 5 1/2, 5.....man its awesome. My best fish so far ( and ever for that matter) was a 5 1/2 lb Smallmouth bass. It was an awesome sight. We are sad to see Leila, Karl and family take off. We vow to do a better job of keeping in touch and making the time to see each other. They are truly the best friends we have ever had.
