City of Mozart
Now we are in Salzburg at bed and breakfast in the outskirts of the city. We are really pleased with this place as it was a much better deal than the pricy places in the middle of the touristy Salzburg. We've toured the home and birth house of Mozart (one of my favorite composers), another castle, and visited the Augustiner Brau twice already; it's …
Fraueninsel and Family
I spent one of my last weekends in Germany visiting my Aunt Mary, Cousin Raquel, and Uncle Joerg at the Chiemsee in Bavaria Germany. My Aunt Dagi and I caught the train in Winnenden and traveled for a five hours through Ulm, Augsburg, and Munich and eventually arrived in Bad Endorf near the Chiemsee. We traveled all this way to not only see my family, but all to experience the most beautiful Christmas market in the world at the Fraueninsel, which is ...

An afternoon of fabulous coffee shops, wandering in amongst the lanes and walkways on both sides of the river taking in the atmosphere and ambiance of this internationally acclaimed baroque architectural / best-preserved city is a delight...

Sausages!
... listen to Vienna provides people with music to dance to. Vienna is still well known for holding balls (very fancy, formal dances). These balls will often last all night and sometimes into the next day! I didn’t manage to get myself invited to one but even if I had I don’t think I could dance for that long! My paws would get very, very sore. Vienna is also well known for its food and this is something that ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Haus Am Moos Salzburg
Hospitable, Quiet, Private, Cozy, Great Value
My 22 year old daughter, 78 year old father, and I spent a week at the Strasser Family's home on Moosstrasse, a very long road that extends from the City of Salzburg to the country-ish outskirts of the City, with views of, and not far from, the Untersberg Mountain. Perfect accommodations for 3 generations spending a once in a lifetime experience in Salzburg. We had the 3rd floor all to ourselves -- a suite with 2 double bedrooms, a small "living room," and a full bathroom with long, deep tub and separate shower, and a large wide hallway/foyer, all for 70 Euros per night. Very private. We did not hear any other guests and it was fully booked. The Strasser Family make you feel very welcome into their home and it felt like we were at home because it was so private. The breakfast room is as lovely as you can get with views of their flower gardens and mountains. Great breakfasts. The decor is simple and the beds are not plush, but remember this is a Gasthaus, not a 5-star hotel. Our large bedroom windows framed The Untersberg mountain and looked down on their flower garden. The bus into the City stops almost in front of the house (a 10-15 minute ride). We had a rental car, but used the bus system or taxis (usually 11-14 Euros each way) instead. Much easier than hassling with parking. Salzburg is an expensive city, so with these great value accommodations we were able to take advantage of the best of what Salzburg has to offer. DON'T MISS THE MOZART DINNER AT ST. PETER'S STIFTSKELLER. Walter Strasser recommended The Salzburg Card which you can purchase from him and it is a great price saver for many sights. Thank you, Walter and Gutrund.
Inspirational!
Could you stay anywhere better in Salzburg?
Superb, friendly welcome from the Strasser family, beautiful and quiet location, and only a short drive/bus to the city centre. We found it's position especially handy for getting onto the A10 road which is your route to anything outside of the city if renting a car.
Accommodation was well above expected, we were given the suite on the 2nd floor, from looking into the rooms on the 1st floor i'm sure wherever you sleep you won't be dissapointed. Breakfast tasty and once again I can't stress how comfortable and "at home in Austria" you'll feel.
Will choose when returning for more Austrian exploration!
Fantastic
Huge beautiful rooms, very clean bathrooms, lovely house, lovely outlook to mountains, fantastic breakfast, absolutely helpful hosts. My husband ended up being hospitalised in Salzburg and our hosts couldn't have helped me more. Easy drive into Salzburg or bus very close by. A lovely country feel but still very close to the city. Great pubs close by for very tasty Austrian food and beer.
Super Family Atmosphere
We stayed at this lovely B&B in October and loved it. The apartment was very spacious and well maintained. Two Sat. TVs, two bedrooms with enough room for 5 people. Quiet which we wanted after touring Salzburg all day. The fridge came in handy to chill our wine for a relaxing evening drink.
The family was wonderful and gave us very good advice for visiting areas around Salzburg. They thave a lovely little boy and cute dog that is always willing to take some goodies from the guests if he finds a kind soul.
We will definitely stop here again on our next trip to Salzburg.
Great place
We were attracted by the excellent website and the very positive reviews, and they lived up to every word. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nice surroundings and great views. We didn't bother to use our car for getting into Salzburg because the nearby bus is so regular, cheap and reliable.
The very special thing about Haus am Moos is the owners, Walter and Gudrun, who are the epitome of friendly helpfulness. Their spirit pervades the place.
We will return for sure!
Travel to Austria & Salzburg
Me and my family was here this year! WOW! What a house! This is really unexpected beautiful! We was to many hotels before and we was against to stay to a different place than a hotel, but this house just let us feel so good in our vacantion in Austria. I will remember our stay and I would like to thank to AmMoos Family. I don't know what to say more, just I love Salzburg and their house too... Thank you Thank you!
Great Stay
We had a short stay here with our three teenage children in April and Walter did a great job with the two rooms that we had booked. The rooms were spotless and we had heaps of room - which is nice to enjoy every once in a while when travelling. Breakfast was great and Walter was keen to help with booking tours and sourcing locations to service the car. Haus Am Moos is a little way out of town but we had a car and it was only a five minute journey into town. We were initially concerned about the proximity of the airport but used the forum on this site to confirm that the airport is rarely used and we found the location really quiet. Well done guys - we will be back!
Haus Am Moos is GREAT
I was seraching for a B & B for my trip to Salzburg and stumbled upon Haus Am Moos and fell in love with it online. When I arrived late at night due to a late train from Gratz, Walter was there and graciously invited us in.
My stay was for 3 nights and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful time or backdrop for my expereinece in Salzburg. The hospitality of Walter and his wife was exceptional as were the rooms not to mention the beautiful mountains off my balcony. Breakfast is simple but great and I HIGHLY recommend Haus Am Moos for your stay in Salzburg. I plan on returning next year and can only hope that i will be able to return to this wonderful B & B.

Wonderful hospitality!
We have been searching for a double room in Salzburg but have received many "Sorry, we're booked" replies, and Walter from Haus Am Moos also gave us the same message. However, he offered us their suite which comes with 2 double rooms and a sitting area occupying the entire 2nd floor of their charming guesthouse for a very reasonable price. We were more than happy to accept his generous offer and that was the start of a very wonderful experience with them.
Rooms were immaculately clean, tastefully furnished & queit, and breakfast was simple but delicious and abundant. The bus to the center of the Old Town runs every 10 minutes, and is a pleasant 15 minutes' ride. Around the guesthouse, there were open green fields with mountains as backdrop. We will certainly return!
We highly recommend Am Moos.
Our room, overlooking the Alps to the south, and the buffet breakfast were excellent. The hostess and host were very friendly - and speak English, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And being able to take the bus to downtown Salzburg made life so easy.
