We found a road leading to the Original Trail of Tears which was a route taken by the Cherokee Indians westward when they were displaced from their lands in the east providing the white settlers with very fertile farming land.

On the banks of the Ohio River we had our lunch. Sky still clear and almost cloudless.

... This one had the brochures in the same building as the restrooms and was unmanned. Yesterday, the brochure stands had been moved to the lobby of the restroom building and the building for the visitors centre was boarded up.

Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We got this one right on the lake. At dusk, the family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.

Between the entertainment, occasional radio or podcasts, chatting more than we ever do otherwise, the long days of driving have mostly been quite an enjoyable marathon. It gets more difficult the closer we get to home, but all-n-all Harry has been very enjoyable listening. We can't thank Aunt Diane enough for the wonderful gift of wizards, dragons, good guys, bad guys and the indomitable Professor Albus Dumbledore.

Today was a welcome rest day. We now head into the hills of Kentucky. Some of us patronized the local bike shops and checked and adjusted our machines for the hills to come. I visited bike shops, thrift store, the local library and generally cruised around town looking for history.
