Things to do in the Coromandel when its raining
... the whole location with more hobbit holes for the upcoming Hobbit film. The only place we weren't allowed to go was the Green Dragon Pub, where apparently they were still finishing a few bits of work for The Hobbit.
The Coromandel region concludes our tour of the North Island (although we will go back there at some point to enjoy it in the sun), so now we're going to stop for a while before we head south. More updates on what we're getting up to soon.

Decided to spend a bit of time today exploring the Coromandel Peninsula because it is such a beautiful area, therefore chose our site for tonight only 90 Kms away on the other side of the Peninsula. ... Peninsula during our last visit in New Zealand, I was drawn back there. The landscape is just so very fascinating there with the west coast all rugged and rough and the east coast showing off with stunning sandy beaches. It takes a good half hour to get from one coast to the other, passing over the "mountain" ridges that cover the entire inner part of the peninsula. Coromandel 2nd trip
... cove instead of walking again, and man that was a great choice. The weather was perfect, the water crystal-clear and you can see some wildlife too. I saw blue penguins and heaps of sting rays. It was so beautiful but because I was not fit at this stage, I had sore arms for the next 2 days.

It's raining...
... river or lake in close proximity! We reached our campervan and set off towards 'One Tree Hill', but we ended up missing the turn off and the traffic was beginning to build up on SH1 so we just decided to continue driving towards Whitianga.
We had a rest by the road side where we made a hot Milo and had a piece of birthday cake. The viewpoint was pretty impressive as we could see the mountain range and the sea beyond at dusk. Andrew was desperate for the toilet so ...
