Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. Once finished around 100,000 people all of a sudden started leaving the park in every direction and we quickly realised the original plan of catching the subway to Hanover street for dinner would not be the best idea.. Especially as they were now all free. We decided to walk the estimated (by me) 1km walk to the restaurant we had chosen for NYE ...

Ridiculous thing was that only 1 fireman in a 4 wheel drive turned up & he didn't instill me with much confidence, just sort of mooching around. Then 1 fire truck turned with lights but no siren.
