... br> Arrived at Horseheads at around 3:30pm, met our hosts for the night "Lucy and Corky", very nice people, they had a great spot for us to park and supplied power so we could run the furnace. ... more stop to find Sauders Country Store near the Seneca-Cayuga Canal and Emma seemed to enjoy looking at the goods there. We bought a few more food supplies and I stocked up on muesli for me and granola for Kara. I had thought about getting a pumpkin but forgot until we got outside again and then decided to skip it.

We then headed to the Waterloo thruway exit to find a motel and saw the Holiday Inn sign from the road, checked for room availability and checked in.

... end to end, and never more than 3.5 miles wide. We are camped in the Village of Watkins Glen at a town-owned camping facility between a park overlooking the lake and a marina. Basically camping downtown! This is a very different vibe. We have beautiful views of the mountains – as they turn color – and of the river at the marina and of Seneca Lake.

Sunday morning we drove out of Washington D C, gladly leaving behind the constant scream of sirens - police, ambulance and fire, every five minutes!
